Hello. I’m Paul Donio, owner of Hawk Ridge Furniture. I’ve been working with wood since 1983. My furniture designs reflect my love of history and the craftsmanship that was prevalent in the periods that I draw inspiration from. I use techniques that are in keeping with my deep respect for traditional joinery and fine woodworking. I studied at Boston’s North Bennett Street School. While there I worked in historic buildings throughout the North Shore. I apprenticed under Master Craftsman Dick Higgins of Rockport, Massachusetts, where I learned traditional woodworking methods and techniques. Each new piece teaches me more about the wood and sometimes I learn something new about the period too! Contact Paul today!
More About Hawk Ridge Furniture
Hawk Ridge Furniture is the trade name for Vermont furniture designer / furniture maker Paul R. Donio. In my studio workshop in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, I design and build unique furniture and cabinetry. From rural vernacular to formal period furniture, I strive to create synergy between the unique character of the selected wood and the elements of structure and design.
I established Hawk Ridge Furniture in St. Johnsbury in 1989. I am a member of the Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers and the Vermont Crafts Council. For more information about my work view, scroll through our online furniture gallery or contact me.
About My Shop
I like to keep my shop neat and orderly. There’s a certain rhythm in the shop. Each new piece I build begins on paper and is transformed into a living piece of furniture in here. I use a mixture of time-tested techniques and modern equipment. This is where my love for the craft blossoms.
