This Chest of Drawers was inspired by the Newport furniture tradition (circa 1750). The time-honored dovetail joinery of the top, sides and drawer parts, together with the mortise and tenon joinery of the carcass, makes this piece exceptionally strong, durable and beautiful.

Butternut, a member of the walnut family, is native to the Northeastern US and was a popular furniture stock in early America. It features a warm yellowish background tone with linear, flowing dark brown to gray grain markings. For a distinctive wood that isn’t harvested from the rainforest, consider Butternut.

Specialty wood options:

  • Walnut: add $600
  • Mahogany: add $600

Joinery/Construction Details: Butternut Dresser utilizes mortise and tenon joinery throughout. The Butternut Dresser comes with ogee feet and a beaded and ship lapped pine back. The drawer box sides are made from poplar, with basswood bottoms and your choice of primary wood fronts.

Hardware/Drawer Pulls: Standard hardwood knobs: choice of cherry, walnut or maple.
Specialty brass pulls: Available for an additional charge; please inquire when ordering.
