Inspired by the New England Shaker tradition, the cherry wood Pencil Post Bed is appreciated nightly by of several of our satisfied customers. Sturdy mortise and tenon construction compliments the soft patina of a hand-rubbed oil finish.

Our Pencil Post Bed is designed so that it can be be moved quickly and effortlessly.  The headboard is carefully fitted, yet it ‘floats’ in the mortises of the posts;  rails are attached to posts with 6” bed bolt hardware, and the platform comes in three equally-sized sections for easy handling.

Paul Donio is a master craftsman who fulfilled our dream concept in a unique pencil post bed at a very fair price. We researched many options and were delighted to find Paul. We were in Virginia and he in Vermont. He worked diligently to understand and clarify our needs. He researched the type of mattress to ensure a perfect backboard placement, searched over New England for the best cherry and measured and re-measured to ensure that every detail was perfect. The final product is outstanding and we have received many compliments from friends. Paul personally traveled to meet with us to ensure our custom piece exactly met our specifications. We have ordered additional pieces from Hawk Ridge Furniture to compliment our cherry table and bed.
