Cherry Hardwood Platform Bed
A well-designed handmade bed should provide a restful sleep, pleasing appearance, appropriate functionality and durability for generations. My cherry hardwood platform bed strives to exceed these standards. The soft tones and grain of hardwood cherry complement the clean lines of this handmade tapered leg bed with an arched half moon headboard. It will serve as a simple and elegant foundation for your entire room.

All the bed parts (rails, posts, platform) are constructed with durability in mind. The bed rails are connected to the posts with mortise and tenon joinery, and fastened together with six-inch bed bolts. A hand-rubbed nut oil finish is then added to bring out the beautiful luster and the grains of the solid cherry headboard. Cherry Hardwood Bed Construction Details:
- Mortise and tenon joinery
- Bed rails measure 6″ X 1 3/8″
- Bed posts measure 2 ½” X 2 ½”
- 6″ bed bolts fasten the posts to the rail
- Platform: 3/4″ slats positioned vertically between two 5/8″ thick pieces of Baltic Birch

Paul designed and made a beautiful bed for us that is timeless in style and of heirloom quality. Someday I hope that one of our children will have this bed. All of our hardwood beds are custom made, which means that we can accommodate special requests. When ordering your bed we’ll need to know the depth of your bed mattress (and box spring if you are planning to use one) in order to determine the proper location for the headboard.
